Postscript A Good Night’s Sleep
In the SGV Museum during
the turnover of the Fernando
Zobel painting Las Soledades
de Lope de Vega from the
SGV Foundation to the Ayala
Foundation on January 9,
2012. The painting is part of
a trilogy and the only one that
did not belong to the Ayala
family. In photo with Wash
are (from left), Vic Noel, Vicky
Garchitorena-Arpon, Mariles
Gustilo, Luli Heras-De Leon
and Jaime Augusto Zobel.
This is the image that welcomes guests
who enter the SGV Museum located
at the penthouse of the Shang Grand
Tower on Rada Street, Makati. SGV’s
th
gift to Wash on his 90 birthday, the
museum showcases his collection of owls
and turtles, SGV memorabilia and
selected pieces by Filipino and Southeast
Asian artists.
Butch Dalisay visits Wash
in his office; the men formed
a close bond after the book
was completed. According
to Butch, Wash SyCip is
a biographer’s dream and
an interviewer’s delight:
a truly accomplished and
distinguished man who...
always saw the world to be
larger than himself, and
acted with both bold resolve
and disarming humility.
